Every year, 500,000 tons of LDPE plastic is exported from the Benelux. As a sector, we are currently still dependent on countries outside the EU for the recycling of these plastics. Despite this, the European Union has decided that no plastic may be exported outside Europe (non-OECD) from 2026. However, without scaling up sorting and recycling capacity, the plastic will only be suitable for very low-value use, dumping or incineration. However, Extract Plastic has the solution for this. Thanks to its new method of plastic sorting, these LDPE plastics can be recycled in a high-quality manner and on a large scale within Europe.
